Should Disposable Vapes Be Banned?

Conservative parliamentary candidate for North West Leicestershire, Craig Smith, is asking for the views of local residents on the government’s plans to ban disposable vapes.

The ban is planned after statistics revealed that 69% of children vaping in Great Britain use a disposable vaping product. The NHS advises that children should never vape. This is extremely worrying given the unknown long-term health impacts and the addictive nature of the nicotine in vapes.

Craig said “I want to hear the views of people in North West Leicestershire. Personally I don’t like vaping and we need to think about the health of our children. But I also don’t believe in a nanny state.

“Being a Member of Parliament means listening to the views of local people. That’s what I want to do on this topic but that’s what I think MPs should do on every issue of importance. Not everyone will agree with me if I become your MP but the least I can do is listen to your views and be informed by them."

Craig has asked local residents to complete the survey on his website to give their views:

The sale and supply of disposable vapes is being banned in England, Scotland and Wales because of their appeal to young people. But what do you think? Is this the right decision, or is the existing law against selling vapes to those under 18 enough?

Last week’s Budget may have been packaged by the Government in festive wrapping paper, complete with carefully-choreographed soundbites and social media graphics, but for the people of North West Leicestershire it looks and feels far more like a Nightmare Before Christmas.
